Default 17" Tires

What's a good brand/size for 17" rims? Need new tires to go with the rims
I bought a while ago... 245/45 ? 255/50 ?

Thx.

If you have 17"x8" wheels and a later model year C3... 255/50-17 tires are almost the exact same dimensions as the 255/60-15's that were offered as an option. Bridgestone makes a Potenza RE750 in that size, but I'm not sure they are widely available anymore. My .02...

255/50-17 Kuhmo Ecsta SPT fit is perfect and a good look - I run 245/45-17 up front for a little stance assistance. but they are too small in retrospect.

I run a 255 45 17 in the front. The 255 50 17s rubbed on my car. The 45 series is slightly smaller in diameter but you still get the 255 width.

I actually am running a set of Fuzion tires on the front and Kumho on the rear. The Fuzions were pretty cheap but work surprisingly well.

I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's 235/50/17's, and they fit very well. They are 26.6" tall, so they are slightly smaller than stock but its not very noticable. These are a bit on the pricer side at $211 each, but if you are going to take your car to the track (HPDE's, etc.) they are well worth it. I'm pulling over 1g in the corners .

I too am running the Fuzion tires. I only have about 100 miles on them, but so far so good. The price was good.

I put a set of Michelin Pilot Sports (Y Rated) on 8 years ago. The sizes are 275x40x17's in the front on 8.5" rims, and 335x35x17's in the rear on 9.5" rims. In order to fit those big wheels/tires in the rear, I have offset trailing arms. Nonetheless, the rears stick out of the wheel sell a bit. I have owned my Vette since 1976, and these are far and away the best tires I have ever had on it. You can see how the wheels and tires fit on my pictures.
