Dumb me. I snapped my manual shift cable. Its parked backward in a driveway on a down facing angle in my drive. Dangerous to jack and work on the drive. Any hints at a safe repair strategy? Anyone replace one lately?. Otherwise I'll have to block the wheels and jack it up and have at it.

Have a tow truck move it. Or just have a tow company lift it so you can slide under and swap the cable. I don't know what your driveway looks like, but I've seen many that are not "car nut" friendly.

On a 4 speed there is a reverse interlock cable that runs up to the firewall on the steering colum. If it broke at the steering column end you might have a chance to pull it manually. Here is a pic of one from my 71.
Sometimes the cable kinks at the steering colum and no loger works.

Picked up the cable at J and D around the corner. Well I chocked it well and just jacked it up. Wasn't too bad. I just needed the safety angle covered. What I did is "borrowed" my neighbors chocks from his motor home in front of the house and did it quick. Now the motor home rolled 2 doors down in the mean time. Think he'll notice
