Default A/C Help - how do you remove this

I'm working on rebuilding the heater/AC in my '71. The "flapper door" that is behind the pass side kick panel is stuck in the open position. Using the AIM I was able to remove the vacuum actuator. Mighty Vac proved the actuator to be OK. Looking at the "flapper" there is a spring loaded upper shaft pin and a lower pin. The upper pin is out of its hole and I can open/close the door but it seems to bind and the seal is coming off. The AIM doesn't show it clearly and I don't want to break anything trying to remove it. My question is "How do I get the "flapper" out so I can repair it "?

Thanks,

Jim

If memory serves, you unbolt the actuator and then lift the door slightly till the bottom pin clears the hole and pull it out. Seems like there was a spring on the pivot area to keep it pushed down.

The one on my 81 has 3 screws that go in from the wiper tray side. Your gonna have to wiggle it around a bit to get it out

I just re-did mine. you have to release the upper spring loaded pin and then tilt the flapper to the "inside" of the kick area and then try rotating it or "maneuvering" it out.
