L82 Valve Cover Install Help
Trying to install a pair of L82 valve covers on my fathers 78 L48 but they keep hanging up. They are identical except one thing, tabs underneath. But they are hanging up well before even getting close to those tabs.
L82's use different rockers??
BTW: I did notice they are a little taller, would I hve to remove the EGR valve next to the carb? New gasket for that?
You are hanging up on something. See if the exhaust manifolds are in the way at all. Mine were and I had to clearance them slightly. You might not need a new EGR valve gasket. They don't usualy stick and need no sealer.

-Mark.
Thanks Mark... Passenger side wasn't to bad but the egr kept getting in the way. I noticed the lip on the exhaust manifold and almost had them on. The driverside was really giving us a problem. I could see my father was not in the mood (nearing 70) to remove the cruise control.
I knew I should have done this at my house, at least I have a grinder their.
i know what youre going through, recently installed new valve seals, i have a 79 L82, w/ black alum. covers. i have to remove the tubing from the back of the carb that goes to the power brake booster to get the drivers side on / off, i always struggle with the pass. side, and that egr valve, i just keep jacking with it and it finally goes on. good luck.

I had that 1/2 part, it bet up slightly to give us enough room to remove the L48's but maybe not enough for the taller L82's.
