1st time (82) vette owner in Oklahoma. Any other Okies out there that can recommend some local mechanics or parts depots here locally.

Thanks

well it really depends if you are a sooner or a cowboy...

Ha ha... no seriously, welcome to the forum! and congrats on the vette. There are some great members on here with tons of knowledge and they are very kind and willing to help with most any question and/or problem. Online you can order just about anything for your car. Places such as the following:

www.zip-corvette.com
www.corvettecentral.com
www.mamotorworks.com
www.ecklers.com
corvette america
paragon corvette
docrebuild.com

are some of the more popular websites. Go ahead and order their catalogs b/c some of them take their time on the mailing of them.

Another helpful tidbit... go ahead and order an Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) and also go to DocRebuild and order the OOOSOOEASY wiring diagrams. You will need them for the many little electrical problems that might already be present in your car or will at some time in the future pop up.

HTH,

Sully

It would help to know what you mean by "local". Where are you, and/or how far are you willing to drive for parts and service.

Thanks Sully, great information. I'm in Oklahoma City Oklahoma. Just recently purchased a 1982 vette all original, 26550 original miles. At this point everything works and runs great. Just trying to prepare myself for future problems. Thanks guys.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum.

I'm in OKC and have own my 1980 since Jan 06.

I have a personal website with a lot of information on it and other C3s if you are interested.

http://members.***.net/kingjlw/index.htm

I have electrical schematics, my engine rebuild and other good stuff.

I have a friend who has helped me with all the mechanical aspects. So sorry, I don't know of a good mechanic. I would be willing to help you with any problems. I've had my share of them.

I had someone tell me about Corvette Clinic on Shields, but the only time I dealt with them they kept putting me off for two weeks. This is the time I asked my friend to help me and never went back. It's also a hole in the wall and two old guys who smoke like a train in the business. Not a good environment.

There is a Corvette Car Show at the Riverwind Casino on 7 Jun 08. I went to it last year and their were about 50 cars.

There are two corvette clubs in OKC and here are their web sites:

Central Oklahoma Corvette Club
http://home.flash.net/~hohne1/coccmain1.htm

OKC Corvette Club
http://www.okcvetteclub.org/

I'm not a member of either club. I spoke to an exmember of the OKC Corvette Club and he said they are more driven to autocross and racing. He joined the other one and said he like it better. So you will have to choose the one you will like or not.

I personally just go to the car shows around here and enjoy my corvette without being part of a club. I might change my mind later.

Feel free to send me an email and we can chat anytime.

I'm here to help with any of your questions.

Yeah, find yourself a local corvette club. Lot's of activities for you there and a very good source of local vette assistance for anything that you might need. Alot of times they'll have discounts at local dealers for tires, parts or new vettes too.

I didn't think they had vettes North of the Red River. I thought you guys just drove John Deeres.

We drive the John Deeres down to the Cotton Bowl every October and kick a little AZZ if you get my drift

Welcome nichboy, Congats on your ride. I'm a new owner also ( less than a year ) I joined the local Tulsa club and could not be happier. The wealth of knowledge on local resources, the camaraderie, the cruises. I would recommend looking at the clubs in OKC.
Good luck. Enjoy that ride
