Default Some Newbie help?

Been lurking here for awhile and I got a question.

I am looking at a C3 (74) T top car. I have never owned a vet, but have always wanted one. What are some of the biggies I should be looking for?

The frame looks good, the bodies has a couple of cracks and some small chips, but nothing terrible?

Where and what should I be looking for to avoid a huge mess.

Thanks for any advice!

You will get some great advice at this site, not necessarily from me. I also got a 74, had I spent some time here asking questions and reading A LOT I would have been better off. Advice from me, can't hurt to ask if the vette has ever been in an accident (mine had a bent frame). Good luck and welcome to the forum.

You have to know how much money you can put into this car before you decide how much to spend. Body/paint work on these cars is not cheap, unless you can do it yourself.

I would try to look at as many C3s that are close to your year as you can. You'll start to get a feel of what a nice one looks like and what you should expect to get for your money. It's a buyer's market out there. Use "SEARCH" option on this forum, and be patient. This forum will make your corvette buying AND owning experience 100% better than what it would've been without it.

Some things I've learned SINCE my purchase:

Steering, tight or vauge?
At 100kph or 62MPH, with a 3spd they REV at 3000RPM, good for passing, bad for fuel mileage.
T roof panels sealed tight to birdcage?
Remove Pass & Driver foot panels, remove one small screw, look for rust.
Any rust on A pillars?
All guages work? clock? oir pressure?
Rear tires at an angle on flat surface? (rear wheel bearings???)
Vaccuum system operational?

my $$.03 cents because our dollar is worth more than yours now.
