Where are you located?
i got mine because I like having a car and I was tired of wasting money. Atleast this one will be worth something when Im done. Even when Im not done. I have a 68 427/390..

I bought my '75 last fall for about 5k, and it had a lot of new interior pieces, emblems, etc and was in overall great shape for a project...no rust, no body damage, everything there. The rubber bumper cars can still be had for pretty cheap, especially if you can do paint and body yourself. The chrome bumper cars are getting more expensive, even for a project car these days. Take some time to research, because restoration parts on these cars can get expensive FAST, especially interior pieces.
Looks like it could be a nice car. The price is not bad. Just be sure to check the frame and birdcage for rust. Those are not easy or fun things to repair.

the frame would be easy to check but how would i go about accessing the birdcage where are the access panels to get to it

There's a couple of kick panels that are easy to pull right under the dash on either side. You'll be able to tell pretty quickly if there's going to be rust issues or not by looking there.
I would defiantly be careful of rust in the Chicago area. Check around the windshield and behind the kick panels for rust. (That’s the Birdcage) Also look at the bottom of the radiator support I think they are about 300 bones to replace. If you have much rust in the birdcage WALK AWAY!!! That costs more than you want to fix.
I think the best "investment" for a restoration would probably be a numbers matching '69 big block roadster with good options and documentation. From there you would go to '68 and '70 cars with a big block (or LT-1 in '70.) Next would be the '71-72 cars. The later C3 cars are a great value (an quite inexpensive for some very nice low mile cars), but these are not going to be worth a whole lot when you are done restoring it. So decide what you want, and what your budget is.
That being said, finding an unrestored numbers matching big block that could be restored easily is probably going to be impossible to find. So, look for cars locally that match what you want, and maybe run the possible cars by the forum. We can help let you know if you should run away or not.
My best advice it to buy the best car with the most options that you can afford. And buy the car because you love it, not because you expect to profit off it.
that one is way out of my budget for now and I guess that when I would finish I would use it for my own personal use that I would like to keep for a while instead of selling it and trying to make a profit
i emailed the seller some questions i might go check it out this weekend what should i look for in the car
Looks like a decent car for 5000.
From your original post I thought you were looking for a more expensive C3 like a steel bumper car.I have a 78SA with a mr goodwrench replacement motor that I use as a daily driver.I plan to drive it until around October and then sell it.If you havnt found anything by that time it might be an option for you.
