Default Grounding cable location??

Several months ago I removed a ground strap (cable) from the engine bay and labeled it "frame to motor mount".....its about 15" long, and came off the passenger side. Now I cant seem to recall WHERE on the frame it goes, and to WHERE on the right hand motor mount it bolts to...itsabitch getting old, I know...

Anyway, I'm not home right now so cant go out and take a look for any more info..Just finished a Cheese Steak at Tony Lukes in Philly!! Yum!!!

Any help out here with the cable??

Thanks

Should be thick ground cable between the starter to the engine mount.

Funny that you showed him this link to EBay. i've looked at that part several times and thought to myself "why don't I have one of these?"

Don't forget about the one under the drivers seat. Connects to the seatbelt bolt and the rear crossmember.

Well that sure looks like my cable, but I'm POSITIVE I didnt take it off the starter. I'm thinking it bolted to the motor mount bolt, and the small bolt was thru a hole in the front crossmemeber?? maybe?? 'Course theres always the chance that a PO installed it incorrectly...

I believe your partly right. One end in a small hole in the crossmember and usually the other end goes on the top bolt of the starter support bracket.(The little one that goes on the front of the starter)

This is for a 73 and your 72 should be the same.In later years the one end went under one of the 3 motor mount bolts.(not the long one)

On my 69 the ground cable bolts to the underside of the motor mount brace coming from the frame as the picture above shows and the other end bolted to the side of the block with a 5/16 or ¼ bolt just behind the motor mount and just above the oil pan.

For NCRS correct I understand, but just to get a ground strap for electrical purposes does it really matter. Not trying to be a smart a#$^& just curious

Roger, I think you're right on the money..since my car was without the starter brace (which I have since replaced) I seem to recall it bolted to the crossmember with the small bolt I saved, and the ring connector end was attached to the motor mount..but the cable is too long, to fit that distance..more likely to the starter??

Thanks!

The pic I posted above is from a 1400 mile original 78SA. Motor end goes to the starter support bracket bolt. BUT....you neglected to say you have headers!
On my black 79 with headers, I had to move the motor end of the cable end up front. Attached it to the bolt by the fuel pump that attaches the lower AC support.
Kinda crowded around the starter with headers!
