Default 1968 Convertible Top

What are the differences (if any) on a 1968 Convertible top vs the 1969-1975. I just bought one and would like to know exactly what I have and what its worth when I decide to sell. It is the soft top...not a hard top.

According to parts books, the '68-'75 tops are the same...at least replacement tops are. That doesn't mean there may not be some factory differences between them when originally installed.

I'm not aware of anything that makes soft tops for a '68 different from later cars, but there was a distinct difference between the hard tops...the '68 hard top didn't have the stainless steel tips, though they fit the same otherwise.. During the '69 model year a center bolt was added on the hard top for better weather sealing.

Maybe the center bolt was added to soft tops as well...I don't know but it seems reasonable. Maybe that's the difference you're looking for...no center bolt?

I have no clue. Contact some vendors that sell original, non-repro parts and ask what it would go for. Their price would be more than through a private sale, but you can at least use that as a guide.

On a 68 top the pins that lock into the deck lid latches are 1/4" diameter. The later tops had 5/16" pins.
