Default Fast Idle

My 82 when cold idles real high, even after 10 minutes of warm up. When put into gear rear end makes a loud thunk noise. After driving and warmed up everything is fine. Is this normal?

How high is high? Should be around 700rpms but most cross-fires are around 800-900rpms. You probably have a vaccum leak that is causing the high rpms.

No, it is not normal. How high is your idle rpm?

High idle is a common crossfire problem and it can be time consuming to track down. The link that shaggyvette posted is a great resource. The guys, and girls there live, eat, and breathe crossfire injection. You will need to join the forum to view the articles but joining is free. What is the high idle before it settles down and what rpm when it does settle down.
