my name is craig, and im brand new to this forum, corvettes, and working on cars. my neighbor had my dream car, a 1978 vette. told him if he ever wanted to sell it, to let me know. he told me he would never sell that car. 2 years later he changed his mind. the paint is shot, it has numerous problems, and i knew i was buying a gi-normous headache, but i had to have it. i am 36yo, and never even changed the oil in a car, but i am having the time of my life reading, and learning about my car. i started out slow by changing out the brake pads today, and was bummed because it went too fast. but i did it myself, and i know im going to have to do as much as possible by myself to justify owning this car. i just wanted to introduce myself and say hey to everybody. im sure ill be asking a lot of stupid questions, please put up with me, i have got corvette fever, BIGTIME!!!
welcome to the forum, you cant ask for a better place to learn every thing about vettes. no matter what your question is, some one here has an answer. its cool that you want to do it your self and learn. you said your paint is shot, might be time to go buy a paint gun and start to play with it. painting the vette is one of the best times ive had working on the car yet. just me, pantera and a good sander.
btw nice vette, post up some pics of inside and out!

Welcome Craig. Yes these cars can really test you, both mentally and financially, but that's all part of the allure. I bought my first Vette 12 years ago when I was 18. I've owned three C3s, and still have one of them. So many different things you can do to them, either keeping them stock or modifying them to meet your needs and goals. You'll find help here no matter what you set out to do.
Please do post pics of your car, as we love getting to know our members and their cars. Also, the only stupid questions here are the questions not asked.
and I even haven't got a C3, but just as you have done, Craig, I plan to buy me a one - ship it over to Belgium - and try to learn meanwhile more and more on car mechanics.
As for now I still have two left hands and no previous experience, but I've already noticed that a lot of members are willing to help us "newbies".
Just shows that a common passion brakes barriers...
Keep up the good work, and let us see yr car
I'm currently still looking either in California or Florida ( easiest and less expensive to ship from ) to buy me a C3, and have already been helped by several members in my search.
Greets from Belgium
Everyone has to start somewhere I always appreciate the people who are DIY. When you get a job done you will know it’s done right. The people here are great to help out with whatever you need. So welcome to the club and now get some pictures POSTED!!!
Welcome. 3 months from now you will have the engine and trans on the floor, the body hanging in the air and the frame completly apart saying I was only going to fix the wipers! How did all this happen.
It is very addicting. Good luck and ask away on the questions.

Good to see another Tennessee vette on here. Welcome to the forum. I think you will like it here. Lots of folks willing to help. The Nashville area is full of corvette folks.
Welcome another 78 owner. I, too, am not a mechanic but what a blast. Have done everything but the engine , cause it is still running. Goood luck and we will help.
Welcome Craig, I am in Nashville TN as well and if you ever need advice or need a place to work on your car my shop is your shop (as long as you bring the beer).
