I was wondering if anyone knew what the number of AMPS on a 1973 original alternator are?
I am looking to either rebuild my original or buy a new one?

I'm guessing 63 or less on a stock 350. I'm replacing mine as well as it shows signs of going out on me. But am going with 100AMP since I added a more modern sound system and AMP. The extra boost will likely be a good thing.

You could find out for sure with quick call to NAPA or something.. Just give them the engine code and year and they will look it up. I think my 79 was 63AMP.

Thanks all for your input.
It is 42A, I saw it on the alternator and it matches numbers 68Air posted.
