Battery Tender - Hookup to Cigarette Lighter
I would like to hook up a battery tender to the battery in my 69 coupe.
I see that a 12V Cigarette plug adapter is available that allows you to charge and maintain the battery directly from the vehicle's lighter socket - instead of connecting a charger lug harness with quick disconnect plug, to the battery terminals.
Can anyone tell me if the Cigarette plug adapter device will work in a 69coupe? That is, is the cigarette plug socket powered/energized with the key off? If so, any drawbacks to this method, other than to having the window down a bit?
Thanks,
Mordi

I think a Tender will work best when it gets it's feedback from the battery with nothing in between, but it'll still keep the battery charged. I only fear that it would tend to over charge just because it's accounting for voltage loss through the harness to the plug instead of a direct reading and input to the battery.
