This is the install I did on a 81 Vette with a cracked dash. It looks incredible. Follow the directions and use a razor blade to bevel the edges of the cracks to get rid of the raised parts where it cracked. I dyed the edge to match the interior using Corvette America Interior Dye.
Bought this one from E-Bay
Sorry no pics, but I've used a top cover for 6 years now to protect against sun damage. My dash is still in good shape but this cover is like a piece of carpet on top. Only bad thing is it shifts around during acceleration but goes back in place right after. Not a big deal really.

I bought the same unit as above off Ebay for like $60.
My old dash looks great except for the two wings on the end of the top outside of the speakers. They are both broke off. I cut the replacement cap with a utility knife down the crease between the black section and the color section. I plan to just install the 3 black sections. This way you don't see any joint as it will fall in the crack/seam. Test fit it looks perfect. Much cheaper than $400 for a new dash.
As for the complete caps that also cover the front, I've read they do not line up all to well.
I had one on mine but have removed it for other reasons. It fit great and I actually didnt realize it was just a cover until I started removing it. It glues on so the fit is really good if you do it rt.
