I know the dilemma you're going through my car was original blue and I ‘m considering blue again but I sure like all of the new orange’s that are out there. And Ontario Orange looks good I especially like the 70’s gold look. Red is nice but there sure are a lot of red corvettes out there. I going to use colors from the BASF Carrizzma line House of Colors has some nice stuff too, these are some spray outs of different shades of blue.
Thanks - it's not all down to me though. I took two fairly ordinary photos at different exposures and ran them through a photo processing software called Photomatix, which applies a technique called HDR to them to give the effect you see there.
It's pretty amazing software - worth a try if you're into photography at all.
Thanks for the compliment on my paint. It is the original color (but the 4th paint job done back in 1992). It is Bridgehampton Blue and was offered in 1971 but not after. When I bought my Vette back in 1976, I really wanted yellow or red but am glad I settled for this particular blue. It changes with the amount of light.
The truth is that there are many good choices as the car looks good in almost any color. Just look at some of the pics on this thread (and the C3 pics thread that has been going for a while). My advice is to take your time and think about which color you are most likely to want over the long haul.
You can go crazy trying to pick a color, I can't tell you how many color charts I looked through. Finally my wife and I decided to go to car dealer's and found this color on a Cadillac, right then I decided that was the color. Good luck in your hunt.
Thanks again for your input and the pics (some very nice looking vettes). Although my vette has been no picnic from the get go, I think this is by far the most difficult phase I've been through.
My first choice was a dark grey, but I don't want it to blend with the background too much. Then I contemplated Laguna Grey, but thought why would that color only be available one year (maybe it didn't look that good?) Next came black (paint place said that the front end of my car has been thrashed so bad, black probably wouldn't be a good choice). At this point I am almost settled on Bridgehampton Blue, definitely looks like it stands out.
If anyone has any pics of a Bridgehapton Blue vette with fiberglass covered sidepipes, I would appreciate it!
I think a c3 looks good in any color.. I personally would stay away from the popular colors (red, black, white). I'm more into the odd colors (oranges, greens, golds ect)
