Default wiper system

On my 68 wiper system the switch when turned on the door will not open. However when I use the by pass under dash the door does open , then when switch is turned on the wipers work great. So another words the door will not open with the wiper switch. What should I be looking for ?

The switch has to signal the soleniod first(Under your dash below the tach). It does the same thing as the override switch. That sound like the problem.

You got aproblem with the solenoid, its located behind the dash, so be preapared to spend some time digging to it.

When you turn on the wipers you should have 12 volts on the red wire (constant) and 12 volts on the brown wire. This is the 3 wire polarized 3 wire plug at the wiper motor red, brown & black wires. If there is not 12 volts on the brown wire most likely the contacts inside the park pawl switch (inside the wiper motor) are not making contact. As stated above if the wiper door solenoid on the back of the tach doesn't dump the vacuum the wiper door won't raise.
