My 69 coupe has an aftermarket "Corvette" radio that truly sucks. The volume pops up and down from road vibration and the sound quality is right up there with orange juice cans and a string. The P.O. had one of those rear speaker bars installed in it, but was told that he couldn't have both the kick panel speakers and the rear speaker bar hooked up without installing an amp. Since the inside of a 69 is pretty crowded, he opted for just the rear speakers. You can't hear them when the windows are down, and sometimes when they are up. I'm looking for a two ****, stock looking radio that can either play CDs or control a CD deck. I'd also like something that an I-Pod could plug into. But it has to look stock. No bizzare removable faceplates or video displays. Just an AM/FM stereo radio.
There was another guy today just posted a similar question.
Do a Google search.
There are vendors that do exactly what you want .
I went through this for my 68 restoration.
I have a radio with a cassette deck and I plug my Ipod into it and the sound will vibrate your chest bone if you crank it up.
I used the footwell speakers and 2 speakers in the rear held in place with Velcro so I can disconnect and remove and look factory stock (except for my head unit which is a Pioneer that I installed with NO MODIFICATIONS as the rest of my 68 is NCRS factory original.
