I have never personally had one but most have had negative reviews. Just search for stereos and you will find info on them.
Don't even bother with it. You need to either go with a full on restore if you are serious about NCRS competition or just go with a Modern unit and be done with it.
i thought that this was a modern unit .no cutting of the dash with modern day sound .should i just cut the dash and put a good cd player in?the cassette player thats in there really does suck .

They are touted as new and modern but they still suck.
I can give you plenty of affordable pointers for a very simple yet super effective stereo system for your C3 if you're willing to make a few changes and get away from stock looking items.

Yes, Cut the dash and put in a good quality head unit! DB has a lot of answers if you want to change things up. I replaced the head unit, put 6x9's in a custom made box in the rear and new speakers in the dash and it is more than I need!

I can suggest one, but for a good well balanced system that you can hear even at highway speeds with the tops off you're going to want an amp to power some good front speakers. Then, if you like bass, you'll want a small sub, and that changes what kind of amp to get. If all you want are good front speakers, a 2 channel amp is called, and with a sub a 4 channel amp.
Just two front kick panel 6.5" speakers powered by an amp, will be more than enough to have great sound. I prefer bass with my music so I can help you design a system with or without a sub.
It depends on what you want and how far you're willing to go.
You might need to buy some shrink wrapping and various terminals and maybe a crimper and such, but basically you can have a great system for not much if you do the install yourself.
I made the mistake of buying a retro looking unit. Sounds like crap. Had to put an amp in just to hear it and have to use my MP 3 player to get quality as the receiver quality sucked bad. Says a lot of goods things in the ad turned out to be
