g-tech pro accelerometer

The only reason you need to program in the weight of the car is for the horsepower feature. For the 0-60, 1/4 mile times just calibrate and its ready to go! They are very accurate but the speed at the end of the 1/4 mile will read a bit high due to the way it calculates the speed.
It points out all of this in the instruction book. Also, if you get the better model you can download everything to a computer for review of all kinds of info from the runs.
I think it is great. Car and Driver tested the older basic one and it was EXTREMELY accurate for 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
I think that the g-tech is fine for HP giving MORE accurate numbers than most dynos. I had my engine professionally dynoed and it yielded inflated numbers. Most dyno operators give their customers the big numbers they want to see. The g-tech is calibrated by flipping it vertically to sense exactly 1 G.
Wind resistance is pretty minimal in first gear so, unless you can't floor it in 1st due to insufficient traction you will get good numbers provided you avoid loaded shifts where you measure flywheel or torque converter effects.
