I was always an admirer of Corvettes. In 1966 I was in the Air Force stationed in northern Maine and a friend of mine also stationed there brought his '57 up from Florida to drive during his last 8 months before getting discharged. It was a beauty; black w/red interior, 3 speed manual, 283 with a single 4 barrel. Very fast in those days. He let me drive it on occasion until one night I did a power shift from first to second and literly blew the clutch out the bottom of the car taking the flywheel cover with it. I was pretty embarrased, but he was ok after I had it fixed.
Took me 30 years before I actually owned a Corvette, my '75 I bought in 1995. I always wanted a '57 like my friend's, but there have always been one too many digits in the price tags.

Easy one. In 1973, my dad went to buy an Impala and I went with him. I was 6 years old. Saw a brown 73 vert w/ a white top on the showroom floor and told the salesman I would get the car when I was old enough to drive. Always like to believe that he he still holding that car for me. Took 34 more years, but finally got one.
