Default Fuel gauge vs sender?

I have a fuel gauge that reads well over the full mark when I top off the tank. It reads alittle less than half when its down to a few gallons. Has anyone seen this scenario before? I would like to blame the sender but I can’t rule out the gauge. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...illy_nilly.gif

What year Corvette? I would assume '80 because of your name but your profile is not filled out so guessing is pointless.

You are correct, it is a 1980. Thanks for the reply.

On all Corvettes 1963-1982 the fuel gauge should put out 0 – 90 ohms. 0 being empty and 90 full. Test the out put of your sending unit and see what it’s putting out when you have a full tank. You may have a bad potentiometer in the gauge giving you the wrong resistance reading when full.

I have also seen sending units where the top for the sender was bent allowing the gauge to surpass the 90 ohms reading which would send a higher reading to the dash unit.

Thank you for the tech spec, it will really help me narrow this problem down.
