Distributor Adjustment
I have had this problem before and after my Vortec head & cam change.
No matter what spring combination, weights or cam plate I use, there is only 10 degrees mechanical advance. I can change when it happens, 1500 RPM, 1800 RPM, 2200 RPM and where I have it know 2600 RPM. Also it is set at 22 600 RPM degrees initial and 32 degrees all in at 2600 RPM.
Now 22 degrees seems high to start the engine when it is warm.
What should I be looking for? The mechanical advance plate can rotate farther than the weights can rotate it, which I think means that the stops are not limiting the advance.
Or Should I just buy a new MSD or Mallory?
