There is an actual order form for the new car on DMC's website which is http://www.delorean.com/
pricing starts at around $57,000

They were only about 2700 lbs but I remember when they were new that he took a lot of grief from everybody saying he should have gone with a small block and more power. The engine was 170hp in European spec but with a catalytic converter for the US it was a real dog (140hp?), as in 16-17 second 1/4 mile times. If he would have used the TBI 350 from the Vette, the car would have been a totallty different animal, as it was it was cool to look at and the movie made it a star, but it was really a dud in the go department.

A Delorean with a LS1 would be a fun car to drive, but the original cars with the Renault V6 were dogs in the 1/4 mile. I suppose a new Caddy V6 would be adequate but the trans might not hold up.

It was rumored a few years back that a company bought all the left over original parts. If so all they have to do is assemble the parts, updating could get expensive from a retooling prospective.Another thought would be safety and crash testing,a more powerful engine might require retesting.Just a thought.

well if you look at the order form, they are putting new engines in them, well you can check off "High Performance Engine (197 hp, normally aspirated)"

You only need to get to 88 mph!
Wonder if the Mr. Fusion is an option or we still need to steal plutonium from the middle east terrorists?

A bit of a funny story, way back when they first were introduced a friend of mine who was rather well heeled was trying to decide if he really wanted one, the price the dealer was charging was not a problem but he already had a rather large assortment of cars, motorcycles and trucks of all sizes, what ever got Skips fancy,,,,he bought. He tossed the idea around untill he decided to go for it, lo and behold two days after he took delivery of his car the dealer announced that they were getting out of the Delorean business and lowered (drastically) the selling price of their remaining stock just to get out from under them, Skip was pissed, tried to get it retroactive but the dealer wouldnt budge. He still has the car and not too many miles on it either. I wonder how he feels about this news ? Peace,,,Moosie
