My 74 has the 9" rear end with 4 link coil over suspension no problems with breakage. But I bought it that way so I can't help you out any. If you we're close you could look at everything. Or if I had a way to get it in the air(which I don't but If I find one I'll take pics).

i have a 9 inch ford i bought from andy petree raceing when he closed his nascar shop. it is a 9 inch ford with axles brake roters and clapiers and a 370 gear detriot locker rear gear payed 950 for it and will take less for it dont know if you would call cheap i am located in nc.
There's a couple of folks here doing them. Do a search...one is a blue C-3 that just installed a full rear kit and it is nice. There's a red one running 8's with one too.
Also check with PEF427 here on the Forum. He's doing one in his 598" '68 and has done lots of research.
Otherwise..there are lots of 9 sec and even 8 sec IRS Vette's out there running around without issues. But it takes $$'s at that level too.
I have a custom built Dana 60 made into an IRS under my car....and we just sold another one to a Forum member in Ark. for a future project.
Just depends on which way you want to go.
Tell us about the car...maybe we can find other solutions?
A good Tom's *BOE* 10 bolt will handle that...or similar by GT1999. Still not cheap...but neither is a 9".
Check out the Super Stockers..they are using 12 bolts with transverse springs off modified stock trailing arms. Pretty cheap way to do it with some fab/welding work.
