It should be located high up on the clutch pedal arm, up under the dash.

I thought is was attached to the transmission.
In an automatic it is on the shifter, only accessible by removing the shifter/temp control plate and/or the whole console.
In an manual it is on the linkage in some form and potentially can be changed under the car.

Not sure about yours, but on my 81 its under the console by the end of the shifter lever. Kind of U shaped.

Automatic NSS (& back up light switch) is attached to the shifter under the center console.
On a manual, it is attached to the clutch pedal.

There is no 'neutral safety switch' on a manual transmission car.

The clutch safety switch does get referred to as the neutral safety switch, even some of the wiring diagrams call it a NSS.Dont like it much myself.
