Default Brake Pull

I have been experiencing a problem with the brakes on my 79 Corvette.

The front calipers, brake flex lines and power steering valve have all been recently replaced.

After the power steering valve was done (not sure if there is any connection) the brakes pull to the left when applied.

On inspection I cannot see anything wrong, suspension and steering all seem tight and the calipers move freely.

Any suggestions or take it all off and start again???

You dont say did you get new shoes? (brake) Im sure you did. If not that could be one thing ,the one could be Glazed if so just re-place .If you did shoes calipers and lines it sounds like one of your calipers still has an air issue or the caliper is bad letting the other brake do all the work.Im not sure but the steering should have nothing to do with the brakes pulling to one side.It could be ball joints in your front end does it seem to follow the ruts in the road or not. you replaced something on the sterring was it due to bad tracking down the road?.this also could be your pulling problem. hope this helps.

As far as the actual systems....the brakes and the P/S are totally independent of one another...

If you've just had your PS valve 'done' then you might need to balance the steering again. Jack the front of the car off the ground, remove the driver's side front wheel. With your hands clear of the steering wheel, start the engine.

If the steering wheel turns all the way to one side or the other without you touching it then the valve needs adjusting. Pry the cap off the exposed end of the valve and with a screwdriver slowly adjust the slotted end you see within the valve body until the steering is centred.

If the steering wheel doesn't turn itself then the valve is OK. Your problem might be with the brakes or the alignment.

Balance the newly installed power steering control valve.

Adrian,

Here's a link to Willcox "Repair and Installation" Help page on adjusting the PS control valve. http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=188

I'm not sure thats your problem but download these instructions, the adjustment can be completed in less than 30 mins including reading the instructions

Good luck

Joe
