Default questions on starting

i just got a new steering coulmb as well as crate motor, i installed the columb first and it is a little different that stock because it doesnt have cruse, so i installed the and put in ythe new motor and when i turn the key i am getting power to the starter but no turn but when i arch it it spins it doesn't engage the fly wheel but it turns if anyone has any sugestions for me to trouble shoot this i would apprecieate it i just want my new baby to fire up and role

Did you check your starter gear, to flywheel clearances ?
insure the deep of the engagement to the flyweel
and insure your starter gear has the proper clearance to the flywheel gear ?

We assume you have the correct starter and flywheel ?

Default yes i did

see i ordered this creat engine and came ready to run with everything installed all i had to do was plug and go. also when i removed the old motor my buddie removed the old starter so i am not 100% on how the wires went but have a good idea
