That's really cool. I would love one of those...and while I would make a lot of my own changes for some reason that car strikes me. It's on that list of cars I want that aren't practical like an Opel GT.

Back in the day they were priced the same as a '72 Impala. Today, the nice ones are fetching close to $20K. I don't recall a manual transmission being an option.

I remember reading about the Bricklin at a friend's house when I was about 14. It was an article in an old Playboy. Not sure what I was doing reading about cars in Playboy at 14, but that's where I first became aware of the car.

The Bricklin SV-1 was a gull-wing door sports car built in Saint John, New Brunswick, and also in Minto, New Brunswick, Canada from 1974 until early 1976 for the U.S. market.

In 1974,of 772 produced,137 had manual 4 speed transmissions..

Some typical issues...

1.Gull-wing birdcage had leak issues and the doors weighed 99 lbs each
2.Electrical problems
3.Headlights would fail to pop up
4.The acrylic body tended to crack and warp
5.High sticker price
6.Easily locked out

I've seen that one at the Atlantic National and it's a real gem.

But i've seen many other before and i tell you they are not all like that. Many have warp hood and door don't align and the interior look like a Pinto interior. Those car are real heavy and had door problem.

I think you could order a Bricklin with a stick, but they were about as rare as a new stick shift Corvette today. Some had Ford 351s and others AMC 360s. As in AMC cars of the mid-'70s, I expect the automatic was a Chrysler Torqueflite for that application. If so, good reason to consider the automatic IMO.

The interior was from Datsun. I have spoken to a few who have restored them and DBs assessment of price in dead on. Parts are available. The gul wing left a lip of about 8" that you had to step over to get in and every one of them leaked. Also the doors were very heavy, the restored ones have modified air systems to help in keeping the door up.

All two of the episodes of "Chop, Cut, Rebuild" that they replay endlessly are about redoing a Bricklin. I wish they would do something else, or better yet, just show more of a good show like Stacey David's Gearz!

Some more pics i took of the same car at the Atlantic National.

The yellow one have a flare kit, cause this car is one of the car that appear in the film Bricklin a few years ago. My buddy Mike did some work on it and i took that pic at his place.
This one too have been sign from Malcome Bricklin himself.

not sure about a Bricklin, but definitely would love an Opel GT. Finding ones that aren't rust buckets is a challenge though. Wouldn't mind a Pantera either.
