Default Door panel removal

I need to take my door panels off as I have a rattle in my driver side door and my window will not go all the way down - It sounds like maybe the motor is loose or something when I close the door. I have never done anything like this so I need to know what I am up against.

How do the panels come off? Are there special clips or pins that hold it on or is it just the visible screws?

Also on the other door, the interior handle's top screw came out. I have the screw but I can not seem to get it to grab anything when I try and screw it in. So I will have to remove that door panel as well so I can see what is going on there.

Any hints and tips will be appreciated as I am pretty much a greenhorn when it comes to this stuff.

thanks!

Purchase the assembly instruction manual for your year. The AIM shows how the panels were installed and that helps when removing them.

Window handle for roll up windows and lock **** must come off. There are mickey mouse clips behind each. Best tool for the clips is a window crank removal tool.

Door opening handle can stay on but you will have to work the panel forward and off the handle. Removing the door opening handle and it makes things easier.

Each panel will have five or six trim panels screws which you will have to remove.

Velco fasters will pull free.

LH mirror adjustment comes off from the rear of the panel after the panel is loose.

Its a 77 and I have power windows so I dont have to worry about the window cranks. Is there really velcro behind there?

I just took mine off in less than 10 minutes each.
door pull handle has two screws, two screws up by the window, two retainer clips at the bottom of door, and the locking mechanism, has a clip on it. Pull off the clip and the locking **** comes right off. Pretty easy and fast.

I have A 75 With power windows the door panels come off easy toward the front there is a small black clip take that screw out ,on the lock there is a C-clip it also needs to come off I use a small screwdriver covered in painters tape to keep from scratching any paint. the clip comes off, the little **** comes off . there should be two or so shinney screws you can see take those out . you should have all the screws out by now. Now grab the panel from the bottom and you will manuver the door panel up and foward to get it off of the door handle,Be carful as the top locks on with the weatherstripping for the window. after you get that off take your time and remove the Dust / noise Barrier (a pieace of plastic). Now you cant see much but you can take the screws off of the motor area. This wont due much.the area you will need to look at ,are the three track that the window plastic slides up and down and sideways on. they (on my car)seemed to have some sort of sticky tack in the rail the slides go up and down in .they will need cleaned and lubed mine would stop half the way up and I would have to grab the window and pull it the rest of the way, after I cleaned my rails and lubed them it grabs at half way but she goes up by herself. hope this helps, take your time keep all the bolts together

You will see where that screw goes to hold your handle on when you get the one side off they will both need lubed so I would plan on doing them both.

They call it velcro. You will find plastic nylon fasteners holding the trim panel snug against the door. One side (on the trim panel) snugs into the other side (on the door) and the two halves hold each other.
