I've been reading through several threads on overheating and cooling.
I noticed some mention about stirafoam pieces to direct the air into the radiator.
I see none on my 76.
Can someone please enlighten me about this?
Or is this something found on a later model.
Please to explain...
There is no styrofoam on a Corvette. There are foam rubber radiator support seals which seal the radiator against the support. There are also foam seals on the fan shroud which seal the shroud against the support. You need both types for correct cooling. The 76 assembly instruction manual for your year (AIM) will show the installation of both types and list the original part numbers.
About the only thing that looks a little bit like styrofoam, is the foam plastic horseshoe shapped colar that seals the space between the transmission and the transmission tunnel. Of course, it's not styrofoam, it is a grey plastic like foam however. Another thing to add to your list of needed insulation to keep from getting Corvette cabin fever and C3 gas pedal hot foot.
