Well I've made a list of everything that needs replacing. I've decided upon a doeskin with turqouise interior for color combo. heres my list, please add if theres anything im missing for the interior:
weather stripping
door panel
Arm rest
carpet
center console
Guages
door handles
tan dye
blue dye
damplifier pro (noise and heat firewall)
steering wheel
T-top interior panel
new seats
blue paint (for center console and trimming similar to what redcruz did)
center console padding
chrome polish
rear compartment (all of it..)
door-catch mechanism and all door interior
seat belts and seat belt mechanism.
all *****, switches and levers.
If I'm missing anything or if you think I should be replacing something else as well please input before I make my order.
On your seat belts look into 93 –2002 camaro and firebird’s rear seat belts. You can pick them up on ebay pretty cheap. I just got a set for my car so I could have shoulder belts. I am pretty sure they are almost bolt in for you. Do a search to be sure but you can save a few bucks by going that route.
well I've seen the combo in a BMW and really like it before. It adds a very classic touch thats different to the car which is deffinetly a plus. The only reason I don't go black and red would be because I'd have to replace my entire dashpad and thats another few hundred bucks.
haha yes yes of course. Still expensive to replace the entire dashpad.
Alot of these parts do need replacing as they are dried out and cracking, sadly I can't dye over there =/
I tried the whitegauges vinyls before changing out the actual gauges and decided to keep them since the look and quality exceeded my expectations. The seats were recovered with leather and painted the gauge bezels, center gauge cluster, shifter plate, door panel inserts and even the wooden cup holder with the same color of the car. I also went ahead and had the door panel trim and handles chrome plated.
Man I never knew how bad woodgrain looked until now.........that is a very clean looking.
After looking through I think you have some good ideas cooking. Fiero seats, digital gauges, and a two tone interior. I also don't fully agree with turquoise. I think a black and tan interior would look GREAT with that red paint and since you already have a tan interior half you work is already done. I would stock up on tan dye, black dye, and some flat black spray paint.
Paint all the hard plastic parts that can be saved, and to save yourself money you can dye things like carpet and seats and panels.
The F-body rear seat belts is a good way to save money and you can find them in black if you look hard enough. The rear belts are what you'd use and they almost bolt right in place of the stock system. All you have to change is the male receiver.
I too used leather to wrap some of my interior panels but I found it very difficult to get it as perfect as I wanted so I ended up using some paint on interior parts that didn't need to be replaced.
How are your drawing skills? Maybe sketch and color a drawing of your interior. It'll give you a way to look at it outside of your head.
sadly my drawing skills are pretty subpar Alright, that should save me alot of money. I'll be doing what redcruz did to his panels he gave me some directions and the product name. I'll have a good hard consideration on another color scheme. What is the best brand of dye to buy and is there any good guides on the equipment ill need and how to apply?
