That's not a grease fitting, it's a bleeder valve for the power steering fluid. Of course power steering fluid will run out when you remove it. It's just like the bleeders on the brakes.

Mine is definetly a grease fitting, and yes, I know the difference.

The control valve has 2 parts the valve and the adapter. No ps fluid should get into the adapter where the ball stud and spring are.

Mine had a couple drips there so I greased it, no more drips. Yours may need rebuilt.

Seemed funny at the time.

My 78 control valve leaks the pump reservoir empty in about 2 weeks. I intend on replacing it, but can't seem to work out the time. I'm on vacation next week, maybe I'll get it done. Has everyone had good luck with rebuilt valves?

fluid coming out the grease fittings, is a systom of the valve going bad,
if it leaks buy a rebuilt valve, Do Not waste your time buying a seal kit,
most of the time the spool or casting has been errodded away, and a seal kit will not fix that.

I bought this it was perfect, no leaks, and cenetered,
with warranty ! Highly recommend !
