Default "inspired By Third-generation Corvettes...."

hey check it out. this was in this month's pacific edition robb report. it's about this guy's new design for a "ZO3" which is actually bound for the assembly line! here's an excerpt from the article:

"Inspired by third-generation Corvettes built from 1968 to 1982, Sahin's ZO3 features a... body that is notably edgier, more compact... than the current production 'Vette. "For me," says Sahin, "it was all about those exaggerated proportions, those muscular lines, and wavy curves that made the third-generation Corvette stand out in the crowd"

here's the site and the car:

Not a bad looking car, but I don't think C3 when I look at it. It looks more like a cross between a Pontiac Solstice and a C6 with a little bit of Motion Manta Ray mixed in. I would think that a car the size of a Solstice with any LS powerplant (hopefully LS3 or LS7) would be a real kick in the pants. If he was really going for a C3 inspired look, I think he missed the mark a little. Still very cool though.

I really like parts of that design. Images and descriptions leaked out several months ago but a lot of people missed the threads.

I see a little C-2 in that rear deck lid as well. Not a fan of the tiny fisheye looking headlights and the humungous and flat rear end but looks to have lots of potential to be polished into an overall very nice design. Not sure if it's just me but I see a lot of C-3 inspiration has gone into the current vette's hood area - more curve and less flatness is good for this car. Thanks for sharing.

Man, this is a tough crowd!

I have to say I really like it. In the cookie cutter world of 08' autos at least the car has some personality. And I do think there are aspects of the front bumper, front and rear fenders and the rear window treatment that remind me of a C3.

Now, if we could just get him to put 15" rally's on it, he might have something!

I like the car. If anything has one they don't want, they can give it to me

I agree with some of the guys above. The rear end is a little funny. I'm still trying to get used to the look of the C6's ***. But again, I'd still take one . . .

Yep, if he gets these into production the demand, and value, of our C3's may just jump up a bit!

I wasn't trying to say that I don't see any C3 DNA, just more of the C6 and a bit of Solstice/Sky and maybe even a touch of Lotus. The fender arches and the rear window definitly could be compared to a C3. The back window and the top of the hood remind me a lot of some Motion corvettes, the Manta Ray in particular. Someone else pointed out that they felt like the C6 had a bit more C3 DNA than the previous version. I think that's true and maybe why this car feels more C6 to me. Don't get me wrong, the car is beautiful and well proportioned. The design is very nice and has unique styling cues. I like it.

The muscle car are all coming back with a modern touch, like the camaro, mustang, chalenger ans so on.

If GM engineer were thinking of doing it with the Corvette ,that model would be the one to do.

It looks good. It still has a C6 look to it though. The front end has C3 similarities.

I think they are already doing something similar, it's supposed to be the new C7, from the new Transformers movie, like the first one was any good

Don't like the nose and it needs side gills to go with the Mako/Manta rear. Looks good from 3/4 rear. Still like this one better.

BTW, I don't like the nose on this one either (both say Ferrari to me, not Corvette). The Transformer Vettes are

Default 2009 version of OP

There's a 2009 version to this 2008 that recently came under heavy discussion. Ugur-Sahin claims "design cues from past Ferraris as well as European influences". What I see are many 'C3 influences'.

You may notice subtle but important design changes for the 2009 version. It's longer front and rear. A bit more in proportion to the C3.

Check it out - Page 3 top and bottom is the shortcut.
