I installed a new headlight switch and rebuilt the actuators on my '81 about 6 months ago. They worked perfectly - until last night when they wouldn't even try to go up.
With the new switch I felt a slight vacuum feel (I don't know how else to explain it!) when I pulled it. Now, there is no feel and the lights won't budge. I pull the valve under the dash and all that does is cause a hiss.
I suspect the switch failed. It was a cheapie from MidAmerica. I guess I should have bought OEM .
Comments anybody? Thanks!

Welcome to the Club! I have a 1970 and my "new" headlight switch lasted just over one month. Then the interior plastic bezel that screws on broke in two pieces - got a new one that lasted two weeks, then glued it in place. Plus, as you know, the cheap junk is not cheap anymore. PS Save receipts and return junk.
Thats really odd that the pulldown under the dash doesnt bring them up.The pulldown hoses are easy to get to....pull both of them off the pulldown switch(their attached together)and see if the lights come up.(with the engine running of course)
