Default Brake rebuild

Okay finally got around to taking the brakes off the78 Pace car. The seals are shot like I thought. My question is who has a good rebuild kit. I am trying to keep it as original as I can. I am pretty sure I can rebuild them myself. If anyone has suggestions that has done this please let me know. I have never done a break job but seeing that I don't want to get rid of the original I guess I have no other choice.

Answer depends on how often you realistically plan on driving it. If it will be fairly often then a standard rebuild kit from your local auto parts store will work. If it may sit for extended amounts of time, I would use Vette Brakes o-ring seals. You will need the dedicated pistons to go with it, but the o-ring is not subject to deformation like the original lip type seal. Many here probably have good luck with standard seals and sitting a while, I didn't and it was due to the seal taking a "set" in the resting position.
You also want to look at your calipers when disassembled. Are the piston bores pitted and showing signs of rust? If too bad, it will not seal properly and quickly damage the new seals. Water that is absorbed into the brake fliud collects in the calipers and will rust the cast calipers. You will want to have the calipers sleeved with stainless steel. Several companies do this as an exchange program or you can have your originals sleeved and returned to you. Good luck.
