here is mine. pics probably not that good. mine is pretty original. i changed plug wires and cap to delco, black . i still need dist. shielding. also i dont think im supposed to have chrome valve covers. can someone tell me how to mAke pics larger?
i have the same valve covers. the corvette dealer i bought the car from swears that they were original. they have another 72 454 with the exact same covers. did you take the AIR off or did it not have one. mine doesnt and i cant figure out if it was supposed to or not. manifolds do not have the tubes.
Yes the photos are a bit too small to really look and compare . I have taken copies of an number of engine bays to campare with mine, stiil have a little way to go to be completely happy . If you give me your email address I will send some of 'my 72 LS5.
BAXSOM, WHAT AIR are you talking about? if your talking about the smog pump then yes mine is missing. my valve covers were probably put on when car was new but i was told 72 didnt have chrome ones. they are the same ones my 70 had. my email is afcbills1@msn.com. i have to take better pics aND learn to enlarge them, sorry.
cool,
yeah the smog pump is what i was talking about.
i know mine doesnt have one and was told that it didnt come with one but i am not convinced. i think it is old enough now that it wont need it.
i was almost convinced that the chrome valve covers on mine were aftermarket regardless of what the dealer said but then they got another one and have it advertised as oem chrome covers so i am thinking that they are clueless on this one. i just bought a set of oem orange ones off of ebay. i am gonna turn the chrome ones into rocker arm adjustment covers so i dont spray oil everywhere.
depending on how your going to use it i would get antique plates. this way you dont need inspection or to renew plates anymore. at least pa. is like that. dont know where your from. since you have a 72 i doubt your going to use it as a daily driver . i dont think a missing smog pump will fail it anyway for a 72.

The car came with steel orange painted covers and you have them reversed, the oil fill should be on the pass side. Of course the dist shield is missing and if you have a radio the braided wires, a black dist cap. It is nice to get 'em original as long as you don't have to spend too much. Patience helps, the parts are out there. If you are not NCRS, no need to be too ****. Good luck , nice car enjoy.

not a daily driver but its not going to be locked into a garage never to see the light of day. at least once a week during the summer at least.

my pic got erased somehow.
here is a pic of what i am working with.
i see your point with the radiator hose.
looks like a replacement took place with just a hose that fit.
looks like if it were to swell it might hit the pulley. i might need to look into that,
look at nutsys bottom left picture of the passenger side of his engine bay.
if i take my ignition shielding off mine is identical to his.
there is a hose on the drivers side and passengers side valve covers
Nutsy also said he didn't think he was supposed to have chrome covers.
I'm positive there is only supposed to be one hole on the driver's side valve cover.
Look at danthonys and mine both. Other Chevys may have had the oil filler on the drivers side
but Corvettes do not.
My painted valve covers have the same holes as my chrome ones.
Nutsy and you both have the valve covers on the wrong side. The hole you have the air
cleaner elbow in is for the pcv valve and vice versa.
Kinda inconvenient walking over to the other side to check the oil level when you are adding oil isn't it?
