Default Question for DB- seat width?

I think you took some measurments a while back on seat widths. What was your conclusion on the widest seat that could fit in a C3?

Just FYI: (I'm sure DB will chime in with some more accurate measurements but in the meantime)

I used the Corbeau A4's in their "Wide" version. They are snug, and took a little tweaking, but they fit and are comfortable (but not cheap compared to other alternatives - about $800 with tracks that bolt right in).

I also took the bottoms apart and took out about 1.5" of foam to sit lower in the car.

I don't know if dimensionally a 73 is much different then an 81, but they are probably close. This might give you some ideas.

Yea, I'm looking at the Corbeau's too. Did you use thier seat bracket, and if you did, what was the seat height change? If you didn't i'd be interested in how you mounted the seats.

Yes, I used their bracket. Direct fit.

The bracket is very low. Seats sit just about on the floor.

ps: Red-x for some reason but here is link:

www.corbeau.com

Click on PRoduct then A4 is what I used in Black Suede.

19" is the magic number you are after. Anything wider than that and you'll run into problems.

I'm using the same Celica seats in my '80 that DB is and, from memory, the seats are 19.5" wide. They are pressed into the side console and don't adjust easily because of it.

*edit* I'll measure tonight when I get home. The shoulder bolsters are a significant problem as well as the narrow seat bottom. I might be confusing the numbers because it's been a while since I've thought about this.

The track width of the Celica seats was 18.5" with another .5" of plastic on each side...which does contact the center console and side panels.

If I recall total width was 19.5" but the plastic and bolstering made them a tight fit.

The track length is also of importance because the trans tunnel widens further forward, which made mounting the front feet tricky.

Mounting the seats shouldn't be a problem,, it's the bolster width, accross the seat, and it's possible interfereance with the console and doors that was comcerning me. I geuss I should just get off my lazy azz and go out there and measure it, but was wondering what migh fit.

Don't get me wrong, it was tight, but they don't touch the doors, and they don't move the side panels at all...they just touch.

Could you take a measurement of the outside bolster to bolster, not compressed by any panel? thanks, the seats I'm looking at claim 22" accross, hoping they'll fit, they're nice seatas at a good price.
