Chiefs head insert, in steering wheel, why

I have a 75 corvette, the horn insert has a chiefs head in it, did this have any significance? Maybe aftermarket? Thanks Jim

not a Pontiac

Already thought about a Pontiac Star Chief, but they had a big old honking steering wheel. Mine has a chiefs head, and an S under it, pics later tonight. I'm not saying its not out of an older car, could very well be. It is a sporty type steering wheel, and it looks like the insert belongs on that wheel. Jim
