Default Rear End fluid??????

I get a grinding noise when I take off slowly while turning. I was told To check and add the rear fluid. I don' t know what type of luid to put in. I went to the autoparts store and they asked me what weight oil and the posi fluid was a friction addative. What weight and is the addative the posi fluid I need??

Now may be a good time to change the differential oil. If you do use a good synthetic like Royal Purple. If not, buy a small bottle of limited slip/positraction oil and add it to your differential oil. After you add the positraction oil go to a parking lot and do some figures eights. This will usually free up the posi unit in your differential.

You'll need about 4 oz of posi traction additive- it used to be made from whale blubber, but not anymore. And 80 90 rear differential lube. Be sure to suck out all of the old stuff first. You may need a syphon. Good idea to change the rear end oil atleast every 50K miles.

Thanks for posting that photo, slk230red. I was about to start a new thread asking what grade oil to buy for the differential and you've just answered the question.
