i had a few people ask for engine pics hence the sale of my 77...
i managed to pull the cover of the car and take a few pics...... i drove it once today..... (dont mind the electrical tape holding the oil breather hose in... had an issue on my last drive)
i ordered mine from black mountain precision.... had to get the water pump pulley milled for the lager WP pilot hole..... took alot of adjusting/etc....

I had to have the pulley milled too, had to use a new offset P/S pulley, swap to a keyway style P/S pump (80-82 are press-fit), make a custom bracket to lower my billet P/S pump bracket, get a new alternator bracket to clear the pump and last but not least order a new P/S hose because of the earlier pump...
I'm afraid to know how much all of this costed
Here's my 2" Black Mountain Precision Cog belt system
It looks like both of you used the summit chrome alternator bracket I just tried this week. I could not use the bracket because it interfered with the power steering pump. I did use the heim jointed adjusting arm though. Onaqwest, how did you make it work? Are you still using a v-belt for your power steering?

the PS pump is a real tight fit...just enough room to turn the cap and wiggle it out...
i ended up cutting the tension rod down for the alt. and was able to adjust it better...... the belt for the PS is a V belt i believe....it's been a while since i messed with the motor...
i also ordered 2 different sized belts........for testing

I have the tension rod to it's shortest position, and I still had a problem mounting the belt. I have tall valve covers and I was worried about it being too short after reading some posts here. My bracket would not mount even with the power steering cap off. I'll just stick with the stock bracket with the aftermarked rod.

i talked to john at black mountain precision today and i am approaching things a little diffrently i have took a 72 and im changing over to a big block. I have absolutly nothing for the front of this motor. i am planning in an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. that being said he mentioned running a long water pump and going with a type 2 powersteering pump and mounting the altermator and PS pump level and in front of the valve covers. what are you guys thoughts on this set up im sure he can provide the system im worried about clearences on the front of the motor. however i dont want to have to cut the frame either
BB pulleys are a tight fit, why switch to a long pump things are very tight to begin with,
you will neeed to measure the BB crank pulley,
stock clearance is so tight you cannot slide a belt on, without loosening the pulley !

i am trying to run power steering and in talking to john he said the last time he tried to use a short water pump on a vette the clearances were super tight on the frame crossmember and additional machining was necessary on the pullies to get it to work. I can call tomorrow and get a measurmnet on the crank and water pump pully. I just dont have a set up to check clearances on. thats why i was hopeing the electric fans would free up enough room. i just put the engine in last weekend and have not even put the body back on yet so im still in the planning stages i just think this set up looks awsome but dont want a nightmare either
ik i found out the pully on the long water pump extends 6 3/4 inches from the face of the timing cover and the balancer pully extends 3 3/4 inches from the face of the balancer
