I am Really NEW.... to Corvette world. My uncle is selling a Vette. He is getting to old to Get in and out of it..

I don't know the value of this car.

1979 l 82 / Almost Mint / But.. Excellent A++ shape from Interior to Engine to Paint. (White with Black Leather) No leaks - No where..

45K Miles / All Orginal / and Numbers Match / Everthing works Perfectly.

Can anyone help me with a price range. I have been offered to buy it from him..

Have the Original Sales Ticket and Brochures and Receipts

Thanks

Was the car constantly garaged or did it spend some time outside?

Inspect the frame for any rust or rot, and pull the kick panels and some of the windshield interior trim and have a look at the birdcage structure under it for any rust.

If those are all fine, and the rest of the car is as you describe it would be a good offer to start with $8 - $10.

Automatic or 4 speed? A/C or no? Big factors in the price.

Would you sell your car for 8 grand Mat?

This sounds like a nice unit that could be a one owner car. I'm thinking 12 to 14

I'm trying to approach this question by looking at this from his perspective, since he wants to buy it from a family member, who would probably sell it cheaper just for him.

From the way I read it he's looking for what the car is worth.

Sorry, I guess the way I read it I figured he was looking to find out how much it was worth so he could make an offer.

I kind of thought that was the way you were thinking Mat. It may be best to provide him with a good price range and let the Uncle determine the "family discount"

Maybe this helps.. I just bought a 1979 L82 w/ 91k miles on it. (7/21/08) Everything is matching #'s original. It has a recent paint job, within the last 5-7 years. Looks great. The interior is a 8, everything is original, two trim pieces need to be replaces and the seats / steering wheel have tinny cracks in it if you look close. But all original and in very good shape. The exterior is a 7, the paint is very smooth, no orange peal. A few chips from driving but they were touched up. The drivers side door jam is a little off at the front but perfect at the rear and the drivers side T Top does not fit perfectly, although it seals good and does not leak. It's off in the back about 1/4". I guess the car has been hit on the drivers side, but the repair work was done really good. It's a great driver which is what I wanted. The guy I purchased the vehicle from said the engine had been freshened up, valve job, gaskets, etc... But he did not have documentation. The engine runs smooth, no smoke, starts perfect. Under the hood is very clean, maybe a 9. All original, all clean, no oil leaks. The transmission was rebuilt, also with no documentation but it has a pretty aggressive shift kit in it so I do believe something was done. I paid $10,500. I thought it was fair given the condition of the vehicle. I hope it was fair at least. He was asking $12,500... I have a bunch of photos in my profile, there's an album if you want to look at them to compare to what you are buying. Im also new to the corvette scene, but glad I bought a C3. I can feel a C5 someday in the near future.

I bought my 79 7 years ago for $17,000, it only had 14,000 miles on it. Had it judged at Bloomington for "Survivor". Lots of fun. ..............LT

She sounds like a nice car. What's your uncle asking?
