I have a 68 wiper door linkage hinge for my 69 (Bubba removed all of the wiper door assembly and I got the whole 68 assembly very cheap).
I learned that the 69 linkage (and following years) were supported by brackets mounted to the window frame. But the 68 linkage at least does not have the brackets but some tabs in the area where the brackets for later models are mounted.
Does the 68 linkage also has some additional supports like the later models? And for what are the tabs?
The tabs that mount to the cowl were for extra support to prevent flexing. I did the reverse of you in the 68, 69 linkage went in. I believe you can mount the 69 tabs onto the 68 linkage. I have both at home and can look at the 68 linkage to confirm.
Also the 68 uses a 1/4" threaded connector to the vacuum can and the 69 (if late 69) uses a 5/16" threaded connector. You may need to change the vacuum can or get a 1/4" to 5/16" connector.

Thanks! I would appreciate it if you could check your 68 linkage.
I already have the right threaded connector resp. the right can. But thanks for the reminder!
The 68 linkage I have does have the tab slot and the boss for the tab adjusting bolt, which tells me if you have the cowl tabs they can go on the 68 linkage and be mounted to the cowl.
