Default Help removing '68 seats requested

I am trying to remove the driver's and passenger's seat in a '68. I have found the bolts on the tracks. A few bolts are missing. The bolts that are still in place turn without extracting. I looked under the car for matching bolts with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Not sure about 68', but on my 71' there is a flat piece of steel with a tapped hole that is spot welded to the frame. The welds typically break then just spin. It's tough to see it as it is inside the frame rail but as I recall you can get to it with Vise grip to hold it. Spray it good with penatrating oil firt and let it sit.

4 bolts per seat; one on each front corner of the track; one on each rear corner. All four go into tapping plates riveted to the fiberglass underbody. There are no nuts on the underside unless Bubba has added them some time in the past.

They may be hard to turn, but they ought to back off.

Easy Mike has it correct. The heads of the bolts may break off, if that happens the plates may be removed from the bottom and and re-tapped. Simply pop rivet the plates back to the floor to the spot they were removed from. The holes are already there.
