Can anybody or everybody tell me why I should run my plug wires under the manifolds .I did the motor mounts recently and took the wires out of the MM I want to run them from the top . Was there a reason other than not seeing them that made chevy put them under the manifold and are there any draw backs to running them this way(on top) what boot did everyone use, straight in or some angles and some straight?

They did them under because it's a lot harder to run wires over manifolds than it is headers. With headers you have more options for routing them in a way that they don't get too close. With manifolds it's just harder to keep the distance.

I think I would go with straight boots to try and get out as far away from the block as you can.

For me, running them as installed from GM makes for a cleaner looking installation. Nothing distracts from the look of an engine bay then wires running everywhere. If you run from the top use some nice looking looms, the street rod suppliers have some very nice ones.

Simple, clean, and effective. Running over the top of the engine results in the shortest plug wires = most current transfered.

One reason GM ran them under the manifolds was for the the radio suppression shields that would be harder to fit (and more conspicuous) over the top.

I have the stock ram horn manifolds, and run straight plug boots over anodized aluminum supports. Just another option if your interested.
