Default Thoughts on this '73? Need the forums 'eagle eyes'

I'm interested in this '73 to replace mine which was stolen several years ago.

Fortunately, It's located where I can view it personally, but I wanted to see if the eagle eyes on the forum could spot anything from the pictures before I take a look.

Its listed as numbers matching, PS, PB Auto AC car.

Thanks!

An A/C car should not have the vent levers next to the heater controls. Steering wheel isn't original either.

Other than that, it looks very nice. I would just check the #'s on the engine and look for rust in the usual places.

my bad I must have confused another listing. It does look like it's a tilt column so that's good! Anything else you noticed?

Steering wheel not correct, and look near the bottom of drivers side door sill at the front. Looks like a bit of rust.

Cassette deck??

The valve covers to me don't look correct. It's an L48 car, as the tach shows the 5300RPM redline

It does look like a nice car though

If it is an L-48 it should have the stamped steel orange valve covers.

Looks like the master cylinder has been replaced.
If the owner will let you, I would check the headers for soft spots.
Is that heater hose, white or is it the angle and the camera?
Can't remember the year for the emissions stuff, but I'd check it to see if it was correctly bypassed.

Otherwise it looks good.

I see leather seats but no wood grain inserts on the door panels or shift plate. So either its suppose to be vinyl seats or the door panels have been replaced. Look at the aluminum trim tag by the drivers door and let us know what the codes are and that will end the mystery about the interior and the paint. Looks like the car may have been yellow at some point (judging by the windshield posts).

Post the city location, and find someone to actully go check it out for you,
if you are unable to personally go look at it. reviews from here are great,
but not as good as a personal inspection,
from someone that knows what they are looking for.

thanks for the pointers. The car is located where I can view it - I'm seeing it on Tuesday when I get back. In the meantime I thought it would be helpful to have some other eyes on it to help pick out little things to check for (and it has been helpful!)

The good news is most of the changes are pretty typical and reverseable. I had made the same leather seating and alum. Valve cover change to my car. Even the steering wheel change was done using the original horn button.

Now for the million dollar question: assuming the car is as nice in person as it looks in the pictures - what do you think it's worth? Curious the opinions to see if the asking price is reasonable.

Thanks!

Its hard to tell by the angle of the picture, but I dont think its gold/yellow paint in the windshield post. It looks like the color you see on the underside of the vinyl windshield post trim... it seems loose or something. Hard to tell, really.

Check the trim tag codes, that will tell a lot. Also cannot make a reasonable price guess without verified engine/VIN match and trim tag info.

Owner doesn't appear to know how to place his center T cushion... its backwards.

Im sure there is, but we old Corvette Dinosaurs still use the trusty Black Book. Yeah, that old paper stuff your parents told ya about!

Tell use the paint/trim codes and we'll get it.

What does the car look like underneath? There are countless stories of people buying Vettes that look great because the body isn't rusted (duh), the interior is clean and the engine bay is clean. Then the buyer gets the car home and finds out that it needs a new frame and a total chassis rebuild. A lot of people selling Vettes sell the 'sizzle' not the 'steak' so LOOK UNDERNEATH the car before buying and post pics if you can.

thanks for the good advice. I know it's hard to estimat value just from pictures. However, assuming is as nice as the pictures show what would you think?

Just some thoughts from looking at the pictures. It has an after market steering wheel, Cassette radio, crank windows, no a/c, automatic. Leather seats (deluxe interior option) but with standard interior door panels. Window post trim is installed wrong. Should not be able to see the back side (need to check that closely to see if there may be some major issues there). From the pics the interior looks nice.

I get the feeling that the engine was originally an L48 but the valve covers were replaced at some point. But need to check the engine numbers to be sure what is there.

Body lines and seams appear to be good. Looks like original rally wheels. Paint looks good in the pics but it looks like a non-original color (more silver/blue than was available in ’73). No pics from the back so cannot comment on the exhaust tips (73 was a one year only exhaust tip).

Let us know what you find out.

Thanks Tom - I remember you from back in the day when I still had my original 73 before it was stolen. I checked the other pics and the tip are the correct rectangular ones.

What shoul I look for around the pillar? That comment about the trim has me a bit worried.

What are your thought about value of a car like this? I'm assuming it's an L48 with the valve covers replaced (I made the same mod on mine)if it's an l82 that's a bonus but I assume L48. Assuming that what do you think?
