At the back there is a screw holding it - you must go thru the glove box to reach it - yes, a pain. If the glove box - center box - doesn't come out easily you can do it thru the jack compartment. (For some reason this screw doesn't always get put back in - wonder why.) SInce the parking brake console is kind of fragile before you put it back together you might want to slide some foam under it towards the back.
PS - use a flashlight because it's hard to see.
I've done this so many times lately, it's really a piece of cake.
Open the passenger door, release and push the passenger side seat
forward, open the first storage compartment door, remove the storage
bin above the jack (if you have one) and feel your way to the front
wall of the storage compartment - towards the front of the car.
Now, feel your way to the front of the second storage compartment -
the glove box, as PETKAH mentioned earlier. At first, you will come
across the glove box light wiring, go past it, a little further down and
forward. Here you will feel a hex nut.
Now, take a 1/2 inch socket with extension and start turning
counterclockwise. It's an inch in length, so be patient.
