I recently started having a problem with a violent vibration that happens OCCASIONALLY when I hit a bump. I checked all the ball joints, tie rods etc. and they all seem good. There is about 1/16th of an inch of play in the driver side lower ball joint, but I don't think that's enough to cause the severe vibration I'm having.
My son thought it might be a belt in a tire so I rotated them front to back but that didn't seem to change anything.
Have your wife drive along side on both sides of the Vette to see if she can see anything bouncing.
Did you check all your universal joints, steering linkages, upper & lower control arm bushings?
In my experience, this often comes from unbalanced or old tires in combination with bad alignment. They're on the edge...one bump will send them out of balance.

Everything is tight except for the small amount of play in the lower ball joint on the driver's side.
