The adjustment stud on my power steering pump broke. I have replaced it a couple of times over the past 33 years. Has anyone tried replacing the stud with a bolt and a washer/spacer in between the pump and the adjusting bracket?
Or, is this considered a Bubba method and I should keep it original? It just seems that the stud design has a weak point at the place where it meets the bracket.
Why does that keep breaking on you Dave?? Its just a Pivot point for the adjustment. Sounds like its getting put in a bind somehow
Not sure. The belt/pulleys design on the BB with A/C has been an ongoing problem for many owners that I've talked to. The alternator belt runs off of the P/S pump pulley. The P/S pump appears to working ok...no leaks.

If the threaded hole is into the fluid resevoir, the bolt idea won't work. It will leak fluid even it its tight.
On a 77 I tried the bolt method and found this out. Had to go to the u-pull it junk yard and flook for a pump with the correct stud. Found one on a 77 Buick.
