please decode transmisstion #
Could someone decode this transmisstion # for me? I have a 68
vert. with 4-speed and am needing to order some parts for the
shifter and need to make sure what is in the car. I got two sets of
numbers that i need to be decoded.
#18s40385 and the other is 3925660. Can some one please tell me
what these numbers are telling me?
all help will be greatly appreciated

18s40385 this # should be the same as Vin#
3925660 this is the casting # of the transmission
Should be therd # of the date look like P8P??
P= Muncie
8= 1968
P= September
??= day
only in 1968 You can't know if it's M20 or M21 Or M22 wide ratio or close ratio you need to open the gear box.

Thanks for the fast reply and yes i did not give the third set of numbers and it is
P8R and i am summing that P=muncie// 8=1968 and R=????. All in all its a 68 vintage
transmission. If you could define the "R" for me i would appreciate it.
