Default Wheel question

I need a rally wheel for a spare tire for my car. It being the spare, I am not going to get **** about the date codes being right, but I would be willing to pay more for one that is correct for my car (1970, manuf date = March 23). How do you interperet the codes on the wheels? The one I am presently looking at is 15x8JJ, I know 15x8 is correct, but what is JJ? The seller also says it has markings A 6 K19 922 AZ. When I see a K19 in there, I am guessing that is November 19th of some year? Can anyone help me out here?

JJ means it's from the 1968-1972 period.

K19 9 (hole) 22 AZ

K=Kelsey Hayes
1=Romulus Michigan (Chevrolet)
9=1969

9=September
(hole) = valve stem hole
22=September 22nd

AZ = 1969-82 Corvette only

Don't know what that A6 means. Where is it located??

The "A" and the "6" are under the "15x8JJ" on the wheel itself. The seller says that this is the manufacture date of the wheel and that the date by the valve stem is the assembly date. So he is saying this wheel was manufactured January 6, 1969.

Does that make sense?

Thanks,

PK

Not a lot "makes sense" ...

The A6 is not the manufacture date of the wheel, but of that particular wheel part, and the A refers to the 1st production run of parts, not necessarily January, whenever that was. It has no bearing on the assembled wheel date. If the outside code is ... K19 9 (hole) 22 AZ ... then the wheel is dated September 22, 1969. NCRS judges only the spare date, and this is the date it would use.

Thanks! I think I am square now.

Although, it would appear that this wheel is outside of what would be considered date-correct for my car, and the bid price on the wheel has risen to a level that I wouldn't pay unless it was date-correct. Oh well, now I am better educated when the next one comes along!
